Internal Sales – Irrigation and Outdoors

About the role

This is an internal sales position within the Irrigation & Outdoor department of a well‑established hardware and building‑materials retailer in Cape Town. The role is customer‑facing on the shop floor, where you will advise shoppers on the right irrigation products and drive repeat business through knowledgeable service.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to customers professionally, recommending the most suitable irrigation and outdoor products.
• Generate sales and ensure customer satisfaction through excellent service.
• Control stock levels, conduct regular stock counts and participate in perpetual stock takes.
• Place stock orders with buyers when necessary.
• Maintain merchandising standards and ensure correct pricing of products.
• Handle related administration, including the customer book, special orders file and forwarding invoices.
• Keep the work area tidy and perform other delegated tasks.

Required profile

• Matric qualification.
• Minimum 3 years’ sales experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar irrigation and outdoor retail role.
• Strong product knowledge of irrigation components.
• Demonstrable sales technique and intermediate merchandising experience.
• Comfortable with stock counts, stock control and retail administration.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
