Intermediate Backend Software Engineer

About the role

Versant is building the next‑generation Golf Club Management platform and needs an Intermediate Backend Software Engineer to own and deliver features across the full software lifecycle. You will work on BRS Premier, a B2B solution serving hundreds of clubs in Central Europe, and help expand the product into new global markets.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain backend microservices using Java 17 and Spring technologies.
• Document system architecture, security posture, testing strategies and operational procedures.
• Onboard and train new teammates, sharing platform knowledge.
• Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback and mentor junior engineers.
• Identify root causes of production issues and implement long‑term fixes.
• Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to deliver high‑value solutions.

Required profile

• Solid experience with Java and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud).
• Hands‑on experience building microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, including query optimisation and schema design.
• Proven ability to work through the entire software development lifecycle.
