Instructional Designer

About the role

The Instructional Designer will create high‑impact learning experiences for Marriott’s global associate training, supporting operational excellence and guest satisfaction. Working from Cape Town in a hybrid model, the role collaborates with subject‑matter experts and global stakeholders to design scalable, brand‑aligned content.

Key responsibilities

• Apply ADDIE methodology to develop training programs from needs analysis through evaluation.
• Build interactive digital learning using Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, and other industry‑standard tools.
• Research, test, and integrate new learning technologies, including AI‑powered tools.
• Utilize microlearning, gamification, blended learning, and just‑in‑time approaches.
• Leverage agile principles for iterative design and rapid adaptation.
• Design learning materials that meet accessibility standards and support inclusion.
• Translate complex SME information into clear, practical training content aligned with Marriott standards.
• Oversee distribution of content via Marriott’s Learning Experience Platform and track performance.
• Manage multiple simultaneous projects, timelines, and stakeholder expectations across global markets.
• Adapt content for cultural relevance to ensure global accessibility and engagement.
• Measure program effectiveness using Kirkpatrick’s Four Levels and refine content based on analytics.
• Ensure all learning experiences reflect Marriott’s values, culture, service philosophy, and brand integrity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Graphic Design or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of instructional design experience delivering learner‑centered solutions.
• Proven graphic design and visual communication experience for digital learning.
• Experience creating content that meets accessibility standards and supports inclusion.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with global stakeholders.
