About the role

The municipality is recruiting senior managers to lead its infrastructure divisions, including civil engineering, electrical engineering and water demand services. The positions involve strategic oversight, financial control and delivery of capital and operational projects within the municipal environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, control and administer annual capital and operational budgets for the respective engineering branches.
• Oversee revenue protection, water and sanitation services, and ensure reliable water supply and wastewater treatment.
• Lead project and asset management for capital projects, including design, construction and maintenance of infrastructure.
• Prepare and submit council reports, financial statements and compliance documentation.
• Liaise with consultants, contractors and suppliers to ensure effective project execution.
• Ensure occupational health and safety compliance and adherence to all relevant legislation.

Required profile

• Relevant B.Sc. Civil Engineering degree or equivalent NQF level 7 qualification, registered with ECSA (or relevant body) as a Professional Engineer or technologist.
• At least 10 years of experience in the water, waste, roads or storm‑water sector, or in electrical distribution (up to 88 kV).
• Minimum 5 years of proven managerial and supervisory experience in a municipal environment.
• Valid Code B drivers licence and computer literacy.

Required skills

• Project management and asset management.
• Knowledge of electrical distribution systems (11 kV, 88 kV).
• Understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes.
• Proficiency with budgeting and financial control tools.
• Computer literacy (standard office software).
