Infrastructure Engineer - Kubernetes Platform

About the role

Join the Core Infrastructure – Platforms team to evolve and scale Kraken's Kubernetes platform, a core component of the next‑generation financial infrastructure. You will work alongside senior engineers, SRE, networking and security specialists to deliver a stable, scalable, and secure foundation for all workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and expand Kubernetes clusters across multiple data‑centers.
• Triage and resolve infrastructure issues while learning internal best practices.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to solve complex problems and reduce operational burden.
• Build automation and tooling to improve team efficiency and reduce toil.
• Participate in on‑call rotation to maintain platform reliability.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, Infrastructure/Platform/DevOps Engineer, Software Engineer or similar.
• Strong passion for providing technical guidance and excellent communication skills.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals.
• Proficiency with Linux systems, networking basics, and Kubernetes internals.
• Ability to leverage AI tools such as Claude and OpenAI to deliver business value.

Required skills

• Kubernetes (control plane, scheduling, networking, storage)
• Linux command line and system administration
• Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, PKI
• Scripting/programming: Python, Bash, Go
• Advanced Kubernetes networking (e.g., Cilium)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms: AWS, GCP, Azure (nice to have)
