Industrial Relations & HR Officer

About the role

We are seeking an Industrial Relations & HR Officer to manage plant‑level labour relations in a manufacturing environment. The role will ensure harmonious union dynamics, handle disciplinary processes, and represent the factory in dispute resolution forums.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve workplace grievances and conduct fair disciplinary hearings.
• Prepare evidence bundles, manage referrals, and represent the factory at CCMA and MEIBC conciliations and arbitrations.
• Facilitate constructive relationships with shop stewards and union officials, leading local collective bargaining and wage consultations.
• Ensure compliance with the MEIBC Main Agreement, wage structures, leave cycles, and operational adjustments.
• Advise management and line supervisors on South African labour laws (LRA, BCEA) and best disciplinary practices.
• Track time, attendance and absenteeism, applying progressive corrective actions daily.

Required profile

• Relevant 3‑year National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Labour Law, Labour Relations, or Human Resources Management.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of dedicated industrial relations experience in manufacturing, heavy engineering, or a factory setting.
• Proven track record of chairing formal disciplinary hearings and representing employers at arbitration and conciliation levels.
• In‑depth practical knowledge of MEIBC agreement frameworks and dispute rules.
• Valid driver’s licence.
