Independent Remuneration, Social & Ethics Committee Member

About the role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Labour Law practitioner to join the SAMSA Remuneration, Social and Ethics Committee (REMSEC) as an Independent Committee Member for a three‑year term. The role provides strategic legal oversight on labour relations, compliance and governance matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advisory oversight on legal representation and litigation before the CCMA, Labour Court, Bargaining Councils and arbitration forums.
• Manage litigation risk for disciplinary, grievance and unfair dismissal matters.
• Deliver high‑level strategic counsel to the Board on labour law, risk exposure and governance implications.
• Guide SAMSA’s enterprise‑wide labour relations strategy, collective bargaining and wage negotiations.
• Ensure compliance with the Labour Relations Act, BCEA, Employment Equity Act, POPIA and related legislation.
• Advise on policy updates, process improvements and documentation in line with regulatory changes.
• Support training, capacity building and the promotion of an ethical, diverse workplace culture.

Required profile

• Qualified legal professional with extensive experience in Labour Law and Labour Risk & Relations.
• Proven leadership in advising senior boards or committees on complex labour matters.
• Strong understanding of South African labour legislation and governance frameworks.
