Imports Coordinator – Supply Chain

About the role

Our client, a well‑established FMCG/import player, is seeking an Imports Coordinator to join the supply‑chain team in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. The role manages the end‑to‑end import process, coordinating agents, transporters, warehouses and clearing partners in a fast‑moving environment.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate deliveries with agents, warehouses and freight providers (LCL and air‑freight).
• Track shipments, confirm order details with suppliers and submit accurate documentation to clearing agents.
• Maintain correct Incoterms, PO numbers, shipping and payment terms, and update Syspro and internal schedules.
• Buy foreign exchange, calculate import costs and process agent invoices, ensuring VAT, duty and HS‑code accuracy.
• Maintain filing systems and customs documentation for audit readiness and compliance with ISO and SARS requirements.
• Support buyers and the supply‑chain director with reporting and coordination.

Required profile

• 4–6 years hands‑on experience in forwarding, shipping, customs and warehousing.
• Proven liaison experience with transporters and freight forwarders.
• Strong understanding of Incoterms and international trade documentation.
• Matric essential; tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Imports/Exports or Logistics preferred.
• Ability to prioritise multiple shipments, work under pressure and maintain accuracy.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and numeracy.
• Experience with Syspro ERP.
• Knowledge of Incoterms and IATI/dangerous‑goods handling.
