IDP Officer

About the role

The Central Karoo District Municipality, based in Beaufort West and covering the local municipalities of Laingsburg, Prince Albert and Beaufort West, is looking for a full-time IDP Officer. The role coordinates and supports the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) in a local government setting, with a focus on development and programme management.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and support the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the IDP
• Ensure alignment between the IDP, the SDBIP and the MTREF budget
• Integrate sector plans and ensure effective public participation and ward committee engagement
• Ensure compliance with applicable municipal IDP requirements

Required profile

• A relevant 3-year qualification, preferably in Development Studies, Project Management, Urban Development or Municipal Administration
• 3-5 years of IDP or planning experience in a local government environment
• Knowledge of the Municipal Systems Act Chapter 5 IDP process requirements and of the IDP Framework and Process Plans
• Understanding of the alignment of the IDP, SDBIP and MTREF budget, and of sector plan integration and spatial planning principles
• Experience or knowledge of monitoring and reporting

Required skills

• Computer literacy, including good Excel skills and basic GIS awareness
• Good project coordination and communication skills
