HVAC Artisan

About the role

The Hospital Engineering team is seeking a dedicated HVAC Artisan to ensure continuous operation of heating, ventilation and air‑conditioning systems at Life St. Dominic's Hospital. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will support the hospital’s strategic objectives by delivering reliable HVAC services.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair HVAC systems, air‑conditioning units, air handling units and compressors.
• Perform preventive maintenance and respond to breakdowns promptly.
• Conduct daily, weekly and monthly inspections of mechanical equipment.
• Document maintenance actions, risk assessments and service records.
• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure timely ordering.
• Monitor contractor work and enforce health‑and‑safety regulations.
• Provide after‑hours standby and call‑out support.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent.
• N5 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical HVAC Trade Test Certificate.
• Proven mechanical engineering or HVAC experience, preferably in a hospital environment.
• Valid driver’s licence; own vehicle is an advantage.
