Human Resources Specialist – Luxury Hotel & Spa

About the role

The Human Resources Specialist will support Le Franschhoek Hotel & Spa’s people strategy by managing end‑to‑end HR operations across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, learning & development, and compliance. This role sits at the intersection of service excellence and people experience, ensuring talent practices are seamless, legally compliant, and aligned with the luxury hospitality standards of the property.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with department heads to forecast staffing needs, manage seasonal peaks and roster planning.
• Screen CVs, conduct interviews, assessments and reference checks; coordinate hiring decisions and offer management.
• Design and deliver structured onboarding plans, ensure completion of statutory documentation and training modules.
• Advise line managers on policy application, facilitate conflict resolution and promote a positive workplace climate.
• Coordinate the performance cycle, integrate guest feedback into objectives, and support recognition programmes.
• Conduct training needs analyses, create annual training calendars and maintain training records for compliance.
• Maintain compliance with South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, EEA, OHSA, POPIA) and hotel policies; support internal and external audits.
• Administer payroll inputs related to new hires, terminations and changes.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation and hospitality regulations.
• Experience partnering with line managers and supporting HR processes in a hotel or similar service environment.
• Ability to manage multiple HR functions while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
