HR & Payroll Administrator – Durban

About the role

Our client seeks a mature, highly organized HR & Payroll Administrator to own the full HR and payroll function in Durban. The role is hands‑on, requiring accurate payroll processing, recruitment administration, and comprehensive HR support while collaborating closely with senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Process the full monthly payroll, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, overtime, leave, deductions and allowances, ensuring compliance with company policy and statutory requirements.
• Maintain accurate employee files, draft contracts, confirmation letters, warnings and other HR documentation.
• Administer leave, absenteeism, attendance records and support disciplinary hearings and employee‑relations matters.
• Coordinate onboarding and off‑boarding, manage performance review administration and training records.
• Advertise vacancies, screen CVs, conduct reference checks, schedule interviews and prepare offer documentation.
• Prepare HR reports, monthly statistics and provide ad‑hoc administrative support to senior management.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in HR and payroll administration, with proven ability to run payroll independently.
• Strong background in HR administration across the employee lifecycle and recruitment administration.
• Good understanding of South African labour legislation and HR best practices.
• HR or payroll qualification is advantageous.
• High level of confidentiality and professional communication skills.

What we offer
