HR Officer – Recruitment & Payroll Administration

About the role

Britos Meat is seeking an experienced HR Officer to join its fast‑paced HR team in Cape Town. You will support the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment through payroll and industrial relations, ensuring accurate and professional HR administration within a manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage high‑volume recruitment, including advertising vacancies, coordinating interviews, conducting reference checks and preparing onboarding documentation.
• Maintain employee records, contracts and personnel files to the highest standard.
• Prepare disciplinary and grievance documentation and coordinate hearings.
• Monitor attendance and time‑keeping, initiating appropriate actions when required.
• Capture and verify payroll information, providing support for payroll administration.
• Maintain HR trackers, reports and statutory records.
• Coordinate training records and assist with compliance and reporting requirements.
• Respond to employee and management queries promptly and professionally.
• Perform general HR administration and filing duties.

Required profile

• Previous HR administration experience, preferably within manufacturing, retail or FMCG.
• Strong understanding of recruitment and industrial relations processes.
• Excellent organisational, planning and record‑keeping abilities.
• High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines consistently.
• Professional handling of confidential information.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficient use of Microsoft Office.
