HR Officer / People Development – Westmead, Durban (Automotive)

About the role

We are seeking an energetic HR Officer / People Development professional to join our automotive assessory business in Westmead, Pinetown. This hands‑on role blends HR, skills development, health & safety, and executive support to drive our people strategy forward.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate Skills Development, including the Workplace Skills Plan (WSP), Annual Training Report (ATR) and SETA‑related administration.
• Administer payroll or attendance systems (experience with Beyond Attendance or similar is advantageous).
• Maintain employee records and general HR administration.
• Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation and support disciplinary processes.
• Coordinate Health & Safety compliance across the business.
• Provide executive and personal assistant support to the Managing Director as needed.
• Produce reports, analyse data and improve administrative processes using Microsoft Excel.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a Human Resources role with a focus on Skills Development.
• Strong understanding of South African labour legislation.
• Proactive, energetic and comfortable holding people accountable.
• Highly organised, detail‑oriented and able to work independently while supporting management.
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport are advantageous.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Beyond Attendance or equivalent attendance/payroll system.
