HR Manager – Manufacturing (Johannesburg)

About the role

The company is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead the human resources function for its manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Head of Operations and the CEO, the role oversees all HR activities, ensuring compliance with legislation and supporting business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, and induction.
• Maintain personnel records, prepare employment contracts, and update company policies.
• Conduct job modelling, performance appraisals, and training & development programmes.
• Handle employee relations, disciplinary matters, and union issues where applicable.
• Ensure compliance with labour legislation, SEIFSA regulations, and B‑BBEE requirements.
• Prepare regular HR, EE, and skills‑development reports for senior management.
• Oversee payroll administration and manage the HR budget.
• Identify and mitigate HR‑related risks, providing timely alerts to top management.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of HR experience at a mid‑senior level, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour law and experience representing cases at the CCMA.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, planning and organisational abilities.
• High level of confidentiality, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
• Own transport and a professional, disciplined attitude.
