HR Manager – Freight (Cape Town)

About the role

The freight company is looking for an experienced HR Manager to lead the full HR function and act as a strategic partner to senior leadership. This role will align people strategy with business objectives, support growth plans and ensure long‑term sustainability of the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute workforce planning, talent management and succession strategies.
• Drive organisational development, employee engagement and high‑performance culture.
• Oversee payroll, recruitment, performance management and employee benefits administration.
• Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation and manage labour relations.
• Create and maintain HR policies, reporting frameworks and governance structures.
• Identify and mitigate HR‑related risks.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of HR experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven experience in logistics, freight, warehousing, transport or supply chain environments.
• Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Labour Relations or related field; postgraduate qualification advantageous.
• Registration with a recognised professional HR body (e.g., SABPP) is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour laws (LRA, BCEA, EEA, SDA, OHSA, POPIA, UIF, Compensation Fund).
