HR Intern – Gain Practical Experience in Johannesburg

About the role

We are looking for a motivated HR Intern to join our Human Resources team in Johannesburg. This internship offers a recent graduate the chance to develop practical HR skills across recruitment, administration, onboarding, and employee support within a professional environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with recruitment and selection processes, including advertising vacancies, screening CVs, and coordinating interviews.
• Prepare recruitment and onboarding documentation and support new‑employee induction.
• Maintain accurate, confidential employee records and personnel files.
• Handle HR administration tasks such as contracts, letters, forms, and general correspondence.
• Capture and update employee information in HR systems and spreadsheets.
• Support leave, attendance, and employee information administration.
• Assist with performance management and training administration.
• Compile HR reports and maintain HR trackers.
• Respond to basic employee queries and escalate issues when necessary.
• Support employee engagement and wellness initiatives.
• Ensure HR documentation complies with company policies and South African labour legislation.
• Provide general administrative support to the HR team.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, Labour Relations or a related field.
• Recent graduate with a strong interest in building an HR career.
• Basic understanding of South African labour legislation and HR practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong administrative, organisational and attention‑to‑detail abilities.
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
