HR Generalist / HR Business Partner (Durban)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist / HR Business Partner to join a national FMCG company’s head office in Clairwood, Durban. This role partners with operational managers to deliver HR best practices in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide end‑to‑end HR support across the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management and off‑boarding.
• Manage employee relations, disciplinary processes and labour‑broker relationships.
• Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation, BCEA, LRA and Employment Equity requirements.
• Drive employee engagement, wellness initiatives and organisational development programmes.
• Support workforce planning, BEE & SMETA audits and liaise with the Department of Labour during inspections.

Required profile

• Relevant HR qualification.
• 3–5 years experience as an HR Generalist and at least 2 years in an HR Business Partner capacity.
• Previous experience in manufacturing, production or FMCG environments preferred.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour law and HR best practices.
• Proven ability to manage large staff complements and work under pressure.

Required skills

• Experience with labour brokers and outsourced workforce providers.
• Familiarity with BEE, SMETA, BCEA, LRA and Employment Equity compliance.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and conflict‑resolution abilities.
