HR Business Partner – South Africa

About the role

Sun Chemical is looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to support its South Africa operations. The role acts as a trusted advisor to leaders, managers and employees across the full employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance with local labour legislation while driving transformation and business performance.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business leaders on workforce planning, employee engagement and organisational effectiveness.
• Manage employee relations, grievances, disciplinary actions, CCMA matters and union engagement.
• Lead Employment Equity, B‑BBEE, Skills Development, WSP/ATR reporting and transformation initiatives.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, promotions, performance management, succession planning and terminations.
• Provide advice on HR policies, South African employment legislation, contracts, leaves and absenteeism.
• Assist with payroll inputs, time‑and‑attendance processes, compensation/bonus administration and HR reporting.
• Coordinate with vendors and improve HR systems and processes.
• Build talent pipelines through relationships with universities, TVET colleges, SETAs and professional bodies.

Required profile

• Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Management, Labour Relations, Law or a related field.
• At least 10 years of progressive HR experience, including strategic business partnering in a manufacturing, industrial or chemical environment.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation, Employment Equity, B‑BBEE, Skills Development and union engagement.
