HR Business Partner – Johannesburg

About the role

The HR Business Partner provides hands‑on HR support to allocated business units, partnering with managers to deliver practical people solutions that drive performance, engagement and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Act as first point of contact for managers and employees on HR policies, procedures and people matters.
• Provide practical guidance on day‑to‑day employee‑relations issues and support managers with fair people decisions.
• Support the recruitment process, including job specifications, short‑listing, interview coordination and offers.
• Facilitate onboarding, probation tracking and monitor new‑hire integration.
• Guide managers through the performance‑management cycle, including goal setting, feedback and performance conversations.
• Assist with training‑needs analysis, coordinate learning initiatives and track compliance training.
• Manage routine employee‑relations cases (disciplinary, grievance, incapacity) in line with South African labour legislation.
• Maintain accurate HRIS data, produce monthly HR metrics and support payroll inputs where required.
• Contribute to engagement surveys, culture initiatives and other HR projects as assigned by the Head of HR.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in a generalist or junior HR Business Partner role.
• Demonstrated experience managing employee‑relations processes and supporting recruitment, performance management and HR reporting.
• Knowledge of South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, EE Act) and internal compliance requirements.
