HR Business Partner

About the role

This specialist role acts as a subject‑matter expert on all people‑related issues, requiring strong technical knowledge of HR practices and South African labour legislation. Working closely with senior leaders of the allocated business unit, the HR Business Partner will develop and execute people and skills development strategies that support current and future business objectives while ensuring best‑practice HR policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage the People Plan aligned with the business unit’s strategy.
• Lead capacity and workforce planning, talent attraction and recruitment processes.
• Drive talent and career management, performance management and employee development initiatives.
• Support organisational change as a trusted advisor, ensuring people impacts are anticipated and managed.
• Provide generalist HR advice, handle employee relations, grievances and ensure compliance with labour legislation.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of hands‑on experience as an HR Business Partner or in HR management.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation and HR policies (employee relations, performance management, recruitment, talent management, change management, employment equity).
• HR degree required; postgraduate HR qualification or registration as an industrial psychologist is advantageous.
• Basic mentoring and coaching experience.
