HR Business Partner / HR Generalist (Intermediate)

About the role

We are looking for a proactive and detail‑oriented Human Resources Administrator to support the HR function across multiple projects and operational teams. The role ensures smooth HR administration, compliance with South African labour legislation, and seamless management of the employee lifecycle from recruitment to onboarding and ongoing support.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HR databases.
• Prepare and file employment contracts, onboarding documentation, and HR correspondence.
• Assist with recruitment activities: job adverts, CV screening, interview scheduling, and candidate communication.
• Conduct reference, qualification, and criminal checks; coordinate onboarding and orientation for new hires.
• Respond to employee HR queries, manage leave administration, and issue HR letters.
• Support employee wellness initiatives, disciplinary and grievance processes.
• Coordinate internal and external training requests, maintain training records and certificates.
• Ensure compliance with BCEA, LRA, EEA and related HR practices; prepare required reports.

Required profile

• National Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration or related field.
• 3–5 years of HR administration or similar support experience.
• Experience in construction, engineering, mining, or other project‑based environments is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, EEA).
• Excellent verbal and written communication, high attention to detail and confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
