Housemother

About the role

O'Brien Recruitment is recruiting a Housemother in the Western Cape. The role has two aims: pastoral care, offering maternal care and guidance to boarding students so that their well-being is ensured, and housekeeping management, supervising the day-to-day running of the house.

Key responsibilities

• Manage lifts to and from the airport and other ad hoc transport needs (PDP required).
• Coordinate medical appointments with the Nursing Sisters and House Director.
• Work with the House Director to make sure maintenance issues are addressed.
• Take an active part in the House Parent Committee and help set up and attend house functions.
• Liaise daily with the outsourced catering manager on boarders' dietary requirements and attend food committee meetings to improve catering quality.
• Oversee dormitory staff and look after boarders who are unwell.
• Check laundry, handle laundry charges, promote hygiene standards and oversee medication distribution.

Required profile

• Dedicated person who enjoys engaging with boys, staff and parents.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• First aid qualification, or willingness to obtain one.
• High attention to detail, initiative and a proactive approach.
• Physically fit and energetic.
