Hotel Accountant

About the role

As a Hotel Accountant at Mount Nelson you will manage daily financial transactions, support month‑end close activities and ensure compliance with accounting standards. This role offers the chance to develop your finance skills within a luxury hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Process cash book entries and record day‑to‑day financial transactions.
• Perform monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations with supporting documentation.
• Prepare and post monthly general journals, including reallocations and ledger corrections.
• Assist with month‑end closing, covering revenue reconciliations, accounts payable, inventory, accounts receivable and cash book.
• Handle accrual accounting, prepaid expense analysis and VAT 201 reconciliation.
• Verify income audit packs and support the Financial Controller.
• Maintain records for internal and external audits and respond to audit queries.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS reporting standards and internal procedures.
• Compile and analyse financial data for quarterly, half‑year and year‑end reporting.
• Maintain the hotel contracts register and implement management instructions efficiently.

Required profile

• Diploma, degree or CIMA qualification from a reputable institution.
• Strong numerical proficiency and attention to detail.
• Solid understanding of accrual accounting principles and VAT reconciliation.
• Analytical mindset for financial reporting and audit support.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
