Head: Supply Chain Management Tactical (Procurement)

About the role

Transnet Rail Infrastructure Manager (TRIM) is looking for a Head of its Tactical Procurement department, based in Parktown and reporting to the General Manager: Supply Chain. The role leads tactical procurement across all areas of spend in the designated portfolio, aiming for initial cost reductions and year-on-year productivity improvements in the total cost of goods and services, while keeping product quality and vendor service levels. The position is permanent, Grade C.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement tactical sourcing strategies covering demand management through contract management and close-out, and oversee tactical procurement activities for the TRIM head office and support corridor sourcing strategies.
• Ensure timely delivery of services, work with Governance, Legal, Risk Management and Finance to expedite service delivery, and track project metrics and lessons learned.
• Build partnerships with stakeholders, implement supplier development and B-BBEE objectives, negotiate service levels and KPIs, and resolve supplier disputes.
• Manage supplier relations, including contract management plans, health and safety compliance, reputational risk monitoring and supply security.
• Monitor procurement performance, coordinate annual target setting and KPI dashboards, and enforce adherence to procurement processes.
• Develop and maintain contract management, resolve contract issues early, and ensure proper contract close-out.

Required profile

• Honours degree in Commerce, Finance, Engineering, Legal, Logistics and Operations Management or Supply Chain Management (Master's degree an added advantage).
• 12 years of experience in supply chain management; 5 years in a leadership role.
• Trust and honesty in handling finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19.
• Willingness to undergo lifestyle audit and State Security Agency vetting.
