Head of Engineering

About the role

The company is a respected renewable‑energy EPC business delivering commercial and industrial solar PV and battery storage solutions across South Africa. As Head of Engineering you will combine technical excellence with commercial insight to lead a high‑performing engineering team and shape the strategic direction of the business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Oversee solar PV and BESS projects from feasibility, design, procurement, construction to commissioning.
• Review engineering designs, ensure technical quality and manage commercial and contractual risks.
• Support business development activities and engage with senior clients.
• Define and improve engineering standards and operational performance.

Required profile

• BEng, BSc or BTech in Electrical Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in renewable‑energy or EPC project delivery.
• Strong background in commercial decision‑making and client engagement.
• Leadership capability with a pragmatic, solutions‑driven mindset.

Required skills

• Solar PV design and implementation.
• Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) experience.
• Proficiency with PVsyst and PVSol.
• AutoCAD competency.
• Knowledge of South African electrical standards.
