Head Miller – Lead Milling Operations

About the role

The Head Miller will lead the milling team at PepsiCo’s Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) mill, ensuring efficient production of wheat‑based products. Reporting to senior plant management, you will be responsible for meeting material, true and net efficiency targets while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise a group of mill operators and controllers, providing day‑to‑day guidance and relief as needed.
• Plan and execute production schedules, maintenance activities and roll changes.
• Control raw material and finished‑goods stock levels, ensuring proper rotation and condition of wheat from silos.
• Monitor and optimise mill performance metrics such as material efficiency, true efficiency and net efficiency.
• Maintain mill, machinery and equipment, including silo screens and related rooms.
• Ensure compliance with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality) procedures and pest‑management protocols.
• Train new employees and Miller assistants on operational and SHEQ standards.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification with a wheat‑milling course and successful trade test.
• At least five years of practical and theoretical milling experience.
• Minimum two years in a supervisory or team‑lead role.
• Strong understanding of mill optimisation, stock rotation and equipment maintenance.
