Hatchery Manager – Poultry Operations

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Hatchery Manager to lead our progressive poultry operation in the Kroonstad area. You will be responsible for driving hatchery performance, upholding the highest bio‑security and animal‑welfare standards, and delivering strong operational results.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily hatchery operations and multi‑stage incubation processes.
• Maintain strict bio‑security protocols and animal‑welfare compliance.
• Lead, train and motivate hatchery staff to achieve production targets.
• Monitor equipment performance, schedule maintenance and ensure optimal functionality.
• Utilise computer systems for record‑keeping, reporting and performance analysis.
• Coordinate logistics, including transportation of eggs and hatchlings, using a valid driver’s licence.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce losses.

Required profile

• Agricultural Diploma or Degree specializing in poultry production (advantageous).
• Minimum five years of experience managing a hatchery.
• Strong leadership and management capabilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Maintenance‑oriented mindset and computer literacy.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Willingness to live or relocate to Kroonstad.
