Guidewire Developer

About the role

PwC's South African Technology & Innovation Centre (SATIC) is building technology and transformation solutions for its global clients. The expanding Guidewire/Insurance team is central to this growth, and as a Senior Guidewire Developer you will take part in business requirement sessions, review meetings and deliver designs and solutions for user stories on Guidewire projects.

Key responsibilities

• Estimate development effort during sprint planning and prepare configuration and integration story cards.
• Design, develop, unit test and document new and existing software solutions according to requirements.
• Develop solutions following Guidewire best practices, create test data and unit tests, and perform defect triage and fixes during system and user acceptance testing.
• Ensure non-functional, security, regulatory and compliance requirements are met, and take part in code reviews and issue resolution.
• Prepare software releases, take part in daily standups, sprint planning and retrospectives, lead proof-of-concept work and mentor junior developers.

Required profile

• 4+ years of software development experience.
• 2 years in the insurance domain, preferably property and casualty or general insurance.
• 2 years of experience with at least one Guidewire InsuranceSuite product (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, BillingCenter or Digital Portals) in configuration/integration.
• Experience with Gosu, Java 5/J2EE, web services, XML, SQL, Gradle, Spring, Hibernate, Castor, REST/JSON and enterprise messaging.
• Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Git, Tortoise SVN, SourceTree, Perforce and ticketing tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA and HPQC.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
