Guest Arrival Expert (Porter) – Pre‑opening

About the role

The Cape Town EDITION Hotel is seeking a Guest Arrival Expert (Porter) to join the team during its pre‑opening phase. You will be the first point of contact for guests, providing directions, information and seamless service throughout their stay.

Key responsibilities

• Supply guests with directions, property amenity details, service hours and local area information.
• Contact appropriate departments (bell‑person, front desk, housekeeping, engineering, security) to resolve guest requests.
• Follow up with guests to ensure satisfaction and record messages accurately.
• Notify loss‑prevention/security of any theft reports.
• Maintain a clean, professional uniform and appearance.
• Welcome and acknowledge all guests, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank guests sincerely.
• Use clear, professional language on the telephone and in person.
• Enter and retrieve information using computers and point‑of‑sale systems.
• Stand, sit or walk for extended periods and lift objects up to 10 lb without assistance.
• Adhere to all safety, security and company policies.

Required profile

• Excellent verbal communication and customer‑service orientation.
• Ability to read and verify information in small print.
• Physical stamina to remain on feet for an entire shift and lift light items.
• Commitment to confidentiality, privacy and asset protection.
• Team‑player mindset with a proactive approach to problem‑solving.

Required skills

• Computer literacy.
• Experience with point‑of‑sale (POS) systems.
