Group Manager, Medical Health and Wellbeing

About the role

Exxaro Resources Limited is looking for a Group Manager, Medical Health and Wellbeing to lead occupational health and wellbeing across its Group operations in Centurion, Gauteng. This senior strategic role will shape health frameworks, policies and assurance mechanisms that protect employee health, ensure fitness for work and prevent occupational disease in mining and industrial environments.

Key responsibilities

• Provide medical and strategic leadership for occupational health and wellbeing across the Group, aligning with organisational and sustainability objectives.
• Develop, implement and maintain enterprise‑wide health frameworks, standards, policies and assurance mechanisms.
• Establish assurance frameworks, conduct audits and evaluate performance of health systems and programmes.
• Identify, assess, monitor and mitigate occupational health risks, including exposure monitoring, medical surveillance and fitness‑for‑work evaluations.
• Drive continuous improvement through data analytics, emerging technology and best practices.
• Advise executive leadership, governance forums and operational stakeholders on health risks, regulatory compliance and strategic interventions.
• Mentor, empower and develop a multidisciplinary occupational health and wellbeing team across geographically dispersed sites.
• Coordinate health governance across diverse commodities, jurisdictions and workforce profiles.
• Engage proactively with regulatory bodies, organised labour and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in occupational health within mining, industrial or resource sectors.
• Strong knowledge of occupational health regulations and compliance requirements.
• Ability to influence senior executives and multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Experience developing and implementing enterprise‑wide health frameworks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
