Group Human Resources Director

About the role

The Group Human Resources Director will lead the people function across Africa, ensuring the organisation meets its strategic and financial goals through effective organisational design and leadership. This senior role reports to the executive team and drives HR excellence across multiple business units.

Key responsibilities

• Strategic Oversight: Align business plans with people and organisational issues that affect performance.
• Organisational Design: Review structures and implement restructuring initiatives to improve efficiency.
• Leadership Talent: Manage recruitment, succession planning and performance for senior leadership and critical roles.
• Health & Safety: Lead improvements in health and safety performance and oversee safety training programmes.
• Governance & Compensation: Oversee executive compensation, pay reviews and investigate serious ethical, legal or compliance matters.
• Operational Standards: Monitor HR service performance across business units and implement global HR programmes and standards.

Required profile

• Education: Relevant tertiary qualification; MBA, postgraduate or master’s degree highly beneficial.
• Experience: Minimum 8 years of leadership experience in a large, dispersed multinational corporation.
• Specialised Knowledge: Proven experience in employee‑relations strategy and leading health & safety programmes.
• Competencies: Strong business acumen, resilience and ability to operate effectively in diverse cultural environments.
