Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – Gauteng Growth & Development Agency

About the role

The Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA) seeks a visionary Group Chief Executive Officer to lead its mandate of sustainable job creation and inclusive economic growth across the Gauteng City Region. Reporting to the Group Board of Directors, the CEO will shape strategy, oversee implementation, and drive high‑performance culture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead the execution of GGDA’s long‑ and short‑term strategic plans in alignment with provincial and national economic objectives.
• Prepare annual capital commitment and expenditure budgets for Board approval and monitor financial performance.
• Identify principal risks and implement robust risk‑management systems.
• Manage strategic economic infrastructure projects that diversify key industries in Gauteng.
• Raise finance and attract private‑sector investors for organisational and project needs.
• Formulate and implement trade and investment strategies to attract and retain investment in the province.
• Engage with international, national and local industry partners to foster collaboration.
• Provide leadership to GGDA subsidiary companies and ensure compliance with PFMA, Treasury Regulations, Companies Act, King IV and other governance standards.

Required profile

• Postgraduate qualification in Business Administration; MBA/MBL is an advantage.
• Minimum 10 years of executive management experience, preferably in both public and private sectors.
• Proven experience managing multi‑sector stakeholder relationships at senior level.
• Strong understanding of project management from inception through implementation.
• Ability to develop organisational and financial requirements and secure funding.
