About the role

Great grocery departments are built on discipline, detail, and leadership that shows up every day. When the shelves are right, the numbers make sense, and the team is aligned, customers feel it. A well‑established retail group is seeking an experienced and driven Grocery Manager for one of its stores in Durban.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and develop the grocery team.
  • Manage buying, replenishment and supplier negotiations.
  • Ensure correct stock rotation and adherence to FIFO principles.
  • Maintain high merchandising standards, accurate pricing and PI labels.
  • Control shrinkage, wastage and stock losses.
  • Coordinate promotions and in‑store advertising activities.
  • Monitor sales performance and departmental profitability.
  • Handle administration including invoice checks and reporting.

Required profile

  • Proven retail management experience within a grocery environment.
  • Strong buying and stock control experience.
  • Matric qualification.
  • Solid understanding of merchandising, promotions and pricing accuracy.
  • Hands‑on, detail‑driven approach with strong leadership skills.
