Grocery Buyer – Non-perishable Foods Specialist

About the role

The company is seeking an experienced Grocery Buyer to manage non‑perishable food categories for its wholesale/retail operations. The role involves daily interaction with suppliers, stock management and price negotiations, based in either Kuruman or Rustenburg.

Key responsibilities

• Purchase non‑perishable food items in line with company policies.
• Set up and maintain a regular supplier call cycle, meeting suppliers daily as required.
• Develop and sustain strong supplier relationships and trade plans to achieve sales growth.
• Conduct market price surveys and support price/ deal negotiations.
• Create purchase orders, monitor order status, and ensure timely deliveries.
• Manage stock levels to avoid negative, ageing, or over‑stock situations while maximising working capital.
• Track supplier performance, delivery efficiency and margin expectations.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a buyer of non‑perishable grocery items in a wholesale or retail environment.
• Ability to work on‑site in Kuruman or Rustenburg.
• Demonstrated record of meeting stock, margin and supplier sales targets.
