Gravure Operator

About the role

The Gravure Operator will set up, run and maintain gravure printing presses to produce high‑quality printed packaging in line with customer specifications and production schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate gravure printing presses, loading cylinders, inks and substrates.
• Adjust machine settings to optimise print quality and production efficiency.
• Monitor machine performance throughout runs and record production data.
• Conduct regular quality inspections to ensure colour consistency, registration and defect‑free output.
• Follow production schedules, meet daily output targets and minimise waste.
• Perform routine cleaning, preventative maintenance and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
• Escalate major equipment faults to maintenance personnel.
• Adhere to health, safety and housekeeping standards, using required PPE.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
• Proven experience operating gravure presses in a printing or packaging environment.
• Ability to read and interpret production specifications and job cards.
• Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving ability.
• Willingness to work shifts and overtime as needed.
• Preferred: experience in flexible packaging, technical printing qualification, basic mechanical knowledge.
