Graphic Design Manager

About the role

The Graphic Design Manager will lead the municipal graphic design service, delivering design solutions across all directorates of eThekwini Municipality. This role oversees the full project lifecycle from concept through to final delivery, ensuring alignment with corporate branding and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and control the activities of the Graphic Design section.
• Plan branch activities, set short‑ and long‑term goals, and define operating standards.
• Supervise staff, conduct performance assessments and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with operating policies, procedures and corporate identity guidelines.
• Develop, monitor and advise on the correct use of branding both internally and externally.
• Prepare project plans, assign tasks and responsibilities, and manage project budgets.
• Prepare capital and operating estimates, approve expenditures and control costs against budget.
• Maintain and manage the archive repository for design assets.

Required profile

• Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Graphic Design or a related field.
• Valid motor vehicle driving licence.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Degree (NQF Level 7) in Graphic Design or related qualification (preferred).
• 5 years of relevant experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity (preferred).
