Grade 5 Educator – Intermediate Phase

About the role

Jan Kriel School is seeking a passionate Grade 5 Educator to join its special‑needs environment. The role involves delivering the CAPS curriculum in Afrikaans Home Language, Mathematics, Life Skills and Arts & Culture for learners in the Intermediate Phase.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver inclusive lessons in both Afrikaans and English mediums.
• Maintain a positive classroom atmosphere and strong classroom management.
• Collaborate with therapists, counsellors, social workers and classroom assistants.
• Adapt curriculum materials to meet individual learner needs.
• Manage classroom equipment and resources.
• Organise and support sports, cultural and disciplinary activities for the Intermediate Phase.
• Participate in study, hostel duties and extramural programmes.

Required profile

• Qualified Intermediate Phase CAPS teaching qualification (certified copy, transcript and SACE certificate required).
• REQV 14 registration.
• Experience teaching Afrikaans Home Language, Mathematics, Life Skills and Arts & Culture at Intermediate Phase.
• Background in special‑needs education, including experience with autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, etc.
• Ability to provide assessment accommodations for learners with special educational needs.

Required skills

• Computer literacy and familiarity with e‑learning tools.
