General Worker – Housing Rental Management

About the role

The General Worker will provide effective cleaning services across all rental housing schemes, ensuring a clean, hygienic, safe and healthy environment for tenants, visitors and employees. The role requires strict adherence to municipal cleaning standards and procedures at all times.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and maintain facilities, communal areas, corridors, stairways, ablution facilities and other designated spaces.
• Sweep, mop, dust, vacuum and sanitise areas in line with established cleaning standards.
• Empty waste bins and ensure proper disposal of refuse.
• Replenish cleaning and hygiene supplies as required.
• Report damages, defects and maintenance issues identified during cleaning activities.
• Sweep and clean walkways, pavements, entrances, parking areas and surrounding grounds.
• Collect and dispose of litter and other waste from outdoor areas.
• Assist in keeping public and common spaces safe, hygienic and free from hazards.

Required profile

• Ability to perform physical work for extended periods with good stamina and endurance.
• Basic literacy and relevant experience in cleaning services (advantageous).
• Willingness to undergo a criminal record check and provide fingerprints at own cost.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, maintain productivity and follow established procedures.
• Strong teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliability, responsibility and a positive attitude towards learning and service delivery.
