Temporary Social Work Supervisor – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term

About the role

The Haven Night Shelter is looking for a dynamic Social Work Supervisor on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee social workers, auxiliary staff and community development workers across partner NGOs, ensuring high‑quality services for adults living on the streets and families in need of reunification.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and advise social workers, auxiliary workers and volunteers to deliver effective social work services.
• Provide professional and general supervision, quality control and performance management.
• Mentor, coach and support staff to manage occupational stress and promote continuous professional development.
• Ensure compliance with Transfer Payment Agreements, organisational directives and third‑party contracts, and report accurately to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker registered with SACSSP in South Africa.
• Minimum seven years of relevant work experience.
• Valid Code 08 driver’s licence.
• Ability to work well in a team and under minimal supervision.
• Experience in the NGO sector and supervision is an advantage.
