General Manager - Vehicle Tracking & Telematics

About the role

Afrirent Holdings Group is seeking a highly experienced, commercially driven and results-oriented General Manager for its Afritracker division, which covers vehicle tracking and telematics operations. The post is based at the Gauteng head office in Centurion, reports to the Chief Operating Officer: Mobility and sits at senior management level. The successful candidate will set the strategic direction, drive operational excellence, business growth and overall performance of the division.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the division's telematics strategy, identify new business opportunities and market trends, monitor competitors and drive revenue growth and operational efficiency.
• Provide overall leadership of daily vehicle tracking and telematics operations, including installations, technical operations and service delivery, and ensure compliance with customer contracts, SLAs and operational standards.
• Evaluate and approve new tracking technologies, products and system implementations; ensure effective stock management, resource allocation and risk mitigation.
• Manage departmental budgets, monitor revenue targets and expenditure, and contribute to commercial decisions and business development.
• Build relationships with key clients, suppliers and partners, oversee key accounts, handle escalated customer queries and represent the business at industry events.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, internal governance and ISO audit requirements, and report on KPIs and performance.
• Lead, mentor and develop the operational and management team, covering performance management, talent development and succession planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (NQF Level 7) in Business Administration, Transport Management, Operations Management, Marketing Management, Business Studies or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years' experience in business management, sales or marketing, including at least 5 years in a management position.
• Proven experience in the vehicle tracking and telematics industry, preferably with an established vehicle tracking company.
• Demonstrated technical knowledge of vehicle tracking devices, systems and related technologies.
• Valid Code 08 driver's licence; PSIRA certification is advantageous.
