General Manager – Technical Business

About the role

We are seeking a General Manager to take full accountability for the performance, profitability and long‑term growth of a specialist technical business. You will provide strategic and operational leadership across all functions, turning strategy into results while delivering exceptional value to customers and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategy and performance, driving execution of the business plan and tracking results against strategic goals.
• Own commercial and financial outcomes, growing revenue, managing the annual operating budget and strengthening key customer relationships.
• Oversee manufacturing, quality assurance and delivery, optimizing efficiency, productivity and capacity planning.
• Develop people by providing clear direction, building an accountable culture and managing performance and workforce planning.
• Build strategic relationships with customers, suppliers and industry partners, representing the business at external forums.
• Safeguard governance, risk and compliance, promoting ethical leadership and health, safety, quality and environmental responsibility.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, Science or related field (post‑graduate qualification advantageous).
• 5‑8 years’ experience as a General Manager in manufacturing, mining, laboratory services or a similar technical environment.
• Experience within a Group‑reporting structure is a plus.
• Strong strategic thinking, commercial acumen and financial management skills.
• Proven leadership, stakeholder management and communication abilities.
