General Manager – Housing Planning & Strategy

About the role

The General Manager of Housing Planning & Strategy will lead the development and implementation of housing policies, plans and programmes for Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality. This senior position shapes strategic direction, ensures compliance with legal frameworks and drives effective urban environmental planning.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to overall policy and strategy development within the municipality.
• Develop standard operating procedures for all departmental functions.
• Identify key intervention areas in human settlements and institute corrective measures on audit findings.
• Provide input to human settlements analyses, needs assessments and urban environmental planning.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legal prescriptions and constraints.

Required profile

• Honours or Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, City and Regional Planning or related field.
• Registration with SACPLAN as a Professional Planner.
• Valid code B/EB driver’s licence.
• At least ten years of experience in city and regional planning, with five years at senior management level.
