About the role

AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal logistics operator (port, logistics, maritime and rail) in Africa and part of the MSC Group, is hiring a General Accountant in Johannesburg. The position is full-time and permanent, within the AGL South Africa function, and covers invoice rebilling, VAT, month-end closing and management reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and distribute invoices to be rebilled, and manage withholding tax and double taxation agreement requirements and their implications on rebilling
• File the contracts linked to the rebilling agreements and coordinate with accounts receivable on payments received and journal processing
• Submit monthly VAT returns, perform the VAT reasonability test and manage inter-company loans and interest calculations
• Prepare payments to certain suppliers and the JACC P&L file, and assist with SUN interface issues
• Month-end procedures: prepare the monthly provisions file, GM report, month-end balancing, balance sheet reviews and reporting, monthly revaluation and rate loading, and the management report for financial control
• Age analysis review and reporting, variance reporting, and assisting with audit queries and expense budget compilation
• Petty cash reconciliations, BBBEE reporting and ad-hoc duties when required

Required profile

• Accounting diploma or BCom Accounting degree
• At least 3 years of experience
• Audit articles are advantageous
