Funder Relations Manager

About the role

Mediclinic Southern Africa Corporate Office in Stellenbosch is recruiting one Funder Relations Manager on a permanent basis, working in a hybrid workplace. The role ensures that the organisation's strategic objectives and obligations towards funders and relevant stakeholders are met through effective negotiations, strategic relationship management and business development that grows the business and strengthens Mediclinic's reputation while mitigating risks.

Key responsibilities

• Funder relations management
• Negotiate commercial terms with funders
• Establish and maintain mutually beneficial strategic business relationships
• Identify new business development opportunities within existing business structures and partnerships
• Identify and manage risks to Mediclinic relating to funder contracts
• Monitor and evaluate industry developments and their potential impact on the business environment

Required profile

• Essential: 4-year commerce qualification or healthcare industry-related tertiary education (e.g. degree in Pharmacology)
• Essential: 3-5 years' experience in a similar role, with private healthcare/hospital experience
• Desired: 5 years' relevant experience, including medical scheme/private hospital industry experience and negotiation and sales
• Preference given according to the Employment Equity Plan and to internal applicants who meet the minimum requirements

Required skills

• Knowledge of the funder environment, including third-party arrangements, tariff negotiations, benefit design and network development
• Financial acumen and understanding of a hospital as a business entity
• Negotiation and conflict management
• Understanding of tariff structures, including Alternative Reimbursement Models
• Presentation skills
• Knowledge of healthcare industry legislation (National Health Act, Medicines and Related Substances Control Act, Consumer Protection Act, Medical Aid Funds Act, Competition Act, MVA Fund Act)
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
