Functional Head – Maintenance & Logistics

About the role

The City of Tshwane is seeking a Functional Head to lead maintenance and logistics services for all regional licensing centres within the Roads and Transport Department’s Licensing Services Division. This senior position is responsible for ensuring operational availability, safety, and efficient support across the province.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee personnel management, including supervision of maintenance staff and coordination of licensing centre operations.
• Manage the control, storage, and issuance of flammable products and vehicle fleets.
• Ensure operational availability of licensing centres and provide regional logistics support.
• Plan, coordinate, and monitor maintenance projects and subsections, conducting inspections with subsection heads.
• Administer the financial budget for the section and liaise with service providers and client divisions.
• Enforce management decisions, policies, and procedures related to maintenance and attend relevant meetings, seminars, and conferences.

Required profile

• Three‑year tertiary qualification in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, Facilities Management or a related field.
• Minimum six years of relevant experience in a maintenance and logistics environment, with supervisory experience preferred.
• Valid Code B driving licence, physical fitness, and ability to work shifts, standby and overtime.
• Computer literacy and willingness to undergo a criminal record check and fingerprinting.
