Forklift Driver

About the role

The Forklift Driver ensures safe, efficient, and timely movement of raw materials, bins and finished goods within the inbound intake area of PepsiCo’s manufacturing site. The role supports uninterrupted production by supplying raw materials on schedule, loading and unloading trucks, and maintaining proper bin stacking in line with safety and food‑safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily pre‑operation inspections of the forklift and report any non‑conformances.
• Safely operate the forklift to off‑load raw‑material trucks and inbound product during intake periods.
• Transport raw materials to production lines according to the production schedule.
• Load and unload empty bins to/from depots, ensuring correct and safe stacking.
• Manage the flow of bins arriving from production over the rail and stack them in designated areas.
• Identify, remove and report damaged bins.
• Maintain cleanliness of the forklift and the immediate work area, including weekly deep cleaning.
• Place raw materials in the appropriate fumigation rooms and store them according to food‑safety requirements.
• Communicate daily with supervisors regarding stock levels, storage locations and material availability.
• Plan and prioritize work to minimise machine downtime and support Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) performance.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (NQF 4) or equivalent qualification.
• Valid forklift licence (mandatory).
• Medically fit to work in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in food‑safety or agricultural handling environments is an advantage.

Required skills

• Forklift operation and safe handling of loads.
• Conducting pre‑operation equipment inspections.
• Material handling and bin stacking in a production setting.
• Understanding of food‑safety storage requirements.
• Ability to plan and prioritise tasks to support OEE.
