Food Technologist

About the role

The Food Technologist will act as the primary driver for food safety and quality compliance within a fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG) manufacturing environment. You will ensure that all customer and regulatory requirements are met while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update HACCP studies and ensure compliance with FSSC 22000, HALAL, Private Label and TS 22002 standards.
• Lead internal and external audits, raise non‑conformance reports and verify corrective actions.
• Support product trials, new product development (NPD) and root‑cause investigations.
• Conduct GMP and process audits, manage PRPs and track corrective actions.
• Oversee micro‑biological and chemical testing schedules, analyse results and manage retesting.
• Monitor environmental sampling, address failures and close non‑conformance reports.
• Promote a food‑safety culture, train staff and act as the safety representative for NPD projects.
• Ensure health‑and‑safety compliance, report hazards and enforce PPE requirements.

Required profile

• Grade 12 education with basic literacy and numeracy.
• 2 + years of experience in food safety/quality roles within FMCG production.
• Familiarity with mechanical or electrical basics (N3–N6) is desirable.
• Strong understanding of HACCP, GMP, PRP and relevant food‑safety standards.
