Food Service Assistant – Relief

About the role

We are looking for a friendly, reliable and organised individual to join the Plaxton Court kitchen team on an as‑and‑when basis. The role supports the vibrant restaurant that serves residents, the public and private events, ensuring meals are delivered safely and on time.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with serving food and evening drinks to residents in rooms and communal areas.
• Clean tables after service, operate the dishwasher and maintain a ‘clean as you go’ approach.
• Keep small kitchens fully stocked, record fridge temperatures and ensure all kitchen areas remain tidy.
• Record resident nutrition and mealtime information using the Nourish system.
• Respond to resident and staff queries in a professional manner.
• Present food to high standards, supporting the organisation’s reputation.

Required profile

• Strong background in customer service within a commercial catering environment.
• Thorough understanding of Food Safety and Health & Safety procedures.
• Ability to work positively with residents and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Organised, self‑motivated, reliable, flexible and proactive.
