Food & Beverage Manager – Banqueting & Events

About the role

The Food & Beverage Manager will lead all catering, bar and hospitality services across theatre venues and events in Johannesburg. The role ensures high‑quality service, regulatory compliance and profitability while supporting performances, conferences and special productions.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day food and beverage operations for internal and external events, ensuring efficient service delivery.
• Develop and enforce operational standards, procedures and service quality across all hospitality areas.
• Coordinate catering and bar requirements for productions, conferences and special functions.
• Manage budgeting, revenue targets, cost control and stock levels to maintain profit margins.
• Supervise staffing, training, performance assessments and disciplinary matters.
• Liaise with suppliers, monitor promotions and conduct regular stock and asset audits.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with a Diploma or Degree (NQF 7) in Hospitality Management or related field.
• 5–7 years of managerial experience in food & beverage, preferably in theatre, hotel or large‑scale events.
• At least 2 years in a senior hospitality management position.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, South African labour legislation and health & safety.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with POS operating systems for menu pricing and sales analysis.
• Computer literacy for hospitality management software.
